🥬 Old-Fashioned Stuffed Cabbage Rolls
Ingredients:
For the Cabbage Rolls:

1 large head green cabbage

1 lb ground beef (or a beef/pork blend)

½ cup cooked white rice
-
1 small onion, finely chopped
-
2 garlic cloves, minced
-
1 egg
-
Salt & pepper, to taste
For the Sauce:

1 (28 oz) can crushed tomatoes
-
1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
-
1 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 tbsp vinegar (white or apple cider)
-
½ tsp paprika
-
Salt & pepper
🔪 Instructions:

Prep the Cabbage:

Bring a large pot of water to a boil.

Carefully remove core from cabbage and place whole head in boiling water.

As the leaves loosen, gently peel them off with tongs and set aside. You’ll need about 12–14 good leaves.

Make the Filling:
-
In a large bowl, mix ground beef, rice, onion, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Roll ‘Em Up:
-
Trim thick part of the vein on each cabbage leaf (makes rolling easier).

Place 2–3 tablespoons of filling on the leaf, fold in sides, and roll up like a burrito.

Make the Sauce:

In a bowl, stir together crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, brown sugar, vinegar, paprika, and a pinch of salt and pepper.

Assemble:

Layer some sauce on the bottom of a baking dish or Dutch oven.

Place cabbage rolls seam-side down, snugly in the dish.

Pour remaining sauce over the top.

Bake Low and Slow:

Cover tightly with foil or a lid.
